While Playstation 3 still has a few more years of left in its lifespan of relevancy, designer Tai Chiem has come up with a stunning concept of Playstation 4. The PS4 console would feature transparent surfaces made for adaptive touch screens, with a glossy black round compartment to place the discs of your choice. PS4 will give the gamer a unique cable-free gaming experience with its Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. Moreover, the transparent display of the main unit can show thumbnails of different part of a disc and allow the user to select a part by simply touching the respective thumbnail.

I love the concept… although I wonder if the next PS4 will still be at all disc based or HD/network only…

ridicle, to start with the thing is too small, the tendency of consoles is bigger not smaller, unless sony try to pull a wii (unlikely), xbox360 went too small and we all know what happened

also the whole screen is a stupid concept, nothing better to raise prices than a uneeded features

the guy just picked all new fancy technologies he liked put them together and slaped the playstation name for it have any relevance.
thats not designing is just being stupidily exuberant

I like the materials and shapes used within the concept design, bt I dont like the addition of a screen. and the menu to the side isnt very gd. The interface lacks ergonomic consideration and looks clumbsy. Not a total downer, I do still like it, just not what I think the PS4 should be.

Do people who actually design things comment on this blog?

This concept is interesting, the whole glass display idea is an idea, it is arguable. The display I think too is a good idea, allows for uses outside of screen use, keeping track of bandwidth, music that is playing, could have pop-ups of friends that come online instead of showing up on the tv screen… I doubt the disc will exist with ps4.

    nice.

It certainly looks very flashy. But I think having anything more than on/off and eject on the console is terrible.

Nobody is going to have this sitting on their coffee table, it will be by the TV, a good 10ft away from the average sofa. So the multimedia functions in the glass would be useless.

This also doesn’t look like it can be laid flat, another downside.

The design is clean and tastefully done, but a little uninspired, besides the tech.
